Family-Based Immigration

Our Petaluma green card lawyer assists people who are seeking visas, green cards or citizenship based on family relationships. We handle matters involving marriage adjustments, sibling immigration applications, foreign adoptions and immigration issues concerning adult children of U.S. citizens. To learn more, see our page on family-based immigration.

Deportation and Removal Defense

We defend individuals who are facing deportation or removal, with or without green cards. We handle allegations of criminal activity, as well as fake or sham marriages. See our page on removal defense for additional information.

Immigration Waivers

If you have been denied a visa or entry into the United States, it may be possible to waive the grounds for which you are inadmissible if we can prove that a spouse or a parent will suffer extreme hardship if you are not allowed to live in the U.S. See our page on waivers for more information.

Immigration Appeals

We handle federal appellate review of immigration matters and protect the rights of people who have been denied legal residency status at lower levels. For more information, go to our page on federal appellate review.

Other Immigration Services

At the Law Offices of Daniel E. Chavez, our attorney also provides counsel to:

  • People seeking non-immigrant visas: If you are planning on visiting the U.S. for a limited amount of time for pleasure, school, or work, we can assist you in filing for a temporary visa.
  • Diversity visa (lottery) applicants: If you are immigrating from a qualified country that has low numbers of people moving to the U.S., we can help you apply for the annual Diversity Lottery (DV) Program. If randomly selected from the applicant pool, you will receive one of 55,000 visas that will allow you to permanently live and work in the United States. You will be allowed to bring your spouse and any unmarried children under the age of 21 with you.
  • People seeking to reopen their cases: We assist people who would like to reopen their case after a denial due to changed circumstances or because they received ineffective assistance from their prior lawyer.
  • Victims of crime: We provide immigration representation to individuals who have been victims of crime in the U.S. or in their home countries, including claimants under the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) and "U" visa applicants. We also work with people who have suffered from rape, torture, domestic violence, female genital mutilation, slave trade and human trafficking, or who face serious danger because of their cooperation in prosecuting crimes or terrorist activities.
  • People seeking political asylum: We help people who have been persecuted or face reprisals in their home countries because of their political views.

We assist with the preparation of many immigration forms, including:

  • E-42A. Cancellation of Removal for certain Lawful Permanent Residents
  • E-42B. Cancellation of Removal for certain Non-Lawful Permanent Residents
